The Never Ending Story

The Never Ending Story~

Some people would call this a blog, I call this a "Never Ending Story" until I go home to be with the Lord.

We pulled the door closed and with the familiar click of the lock for the last time. June 21, 2021, the end and the beginning occurred in a single moment. In less than an hour we would sign the papers and release our beloved home which had served our family so well for the past 25 years, to its new owners.

For Parker and me, locking that door, walking that familiar sidewalk and entering the car was and is the beginning, full of joy, excitement, intrigue and trepidation. We drove that driveway for the last time.

After closing, our expectations were high, yet we had no place to sleep, so we went to stay a few nights at my mom’s, where we could pursue our plans of building our home on the lake. A loft style home with high ceilings, lots of windows, an open concept and wrap around decks with wonderful views of the lake.

A few days later, our future Home Owners Association crushed our plan and dream, when they demanded that our home be three times larger than we wanted to construct. So we packed our camping gear into the Subaru and headed to Colorado to develop a new plan.

Green grass, snow capped mountains, warm sunshine with chilly breezes, the Colorado Rockies are the perfect backdrop to pray and reflect on 45 years of marriage, accomplishments and our future.

It took weeks to realize how burnt out we were. Each day as we would walk, talk, pray and eat amazing food, we could feel the layers of stress slowly slipping away. For the first time in our lives, we had the luxury of time.

Neither of us remember the exact moment or who said it, but the idea of abandoning the notion to build a new home took hold. Instead, we began discussing the exhilarating prospect of embracing a life of full-time travel. What would it entail? How would it unfold? These questions whetted our curiosity.

Join me next week as our Never Ending Story continues to unfold~
